Default Electric Fan, Which model?

Alright guys... either tell me how to search better or just offer plain advice on which electric fans we can use. I know the Flex-a-lite 270 works great on 03- but I have an 06. Is this model still correct for us or do we need to look elsewhere? Ideally I'd like an electric fan for around $300-$400 instead of the $600 for the Flex-A-Lite--What's available? Thanks in advance guys!

No experience, but I sure would like to know how your project goes! I'm interested in this one myself:

The Troyer boys seem to know what they're doing! Please keep us posted as you make progress.

Check FordF150.net. This topic was discussed on there 2004 to 2008 forum awhile back. May need to use the search, but I remember it was talked about.

Thanks Bucko... I have been delaying registering over there since I'm enjoying my stay here so far. I read through some threads over there and it seems the guy who has the most publicity about the electric fan mod installed the same fan found in a Lincoln Mark 8. He used a DC control (http://www.dccontrol.com/0820.htm) and he noticed 1.9mpg improvement on the first tank and noticeably better throttle response (I'm assuming also faster revving due to the reduced drag on the engine front end accessory drive).

I'll keep this thread open for awhile... I think an electric fan will be my first mod so... but if anyone here has experience please post!
