Electric fan help

I want to put an electric fan on my truck and I'm not sure what would be better a fan out of a taurus or a set up from a 2010 F150 the only concer I have is will one taurus fan in the stock shroud keep my truck cool enough? the 2010 setups have two fans and no shroud from what I can tell I like the idea of the taurus fan in the existing shroud but I worry that it wont cool enough what are you guys using for electric fans and how do they cool our trucks

Got the fans here http://www.carpartsestore.com/ part number AL3Z-8C607-A. The DC Controller came from http://www.dccontrol.com/fancontrol.htm Keeps me cool and I'm well over 500hp. Getting rid of that shroud is a major plus. Weight and looks. Plus its easier to get at things.

Do you have a pic of your engine compartment Blown?

The Taurus fan within your existing fan shroud will indeed keep your truck radiator plenty cool. I have a two speed fan out of the Lincoln Mark VIII; this advantage is that the fan kicks on at low speed for general cooling, and at high speed when the Air Conditioner is on. Ether of these will fit within your factory shroud, using long bolks/nuts and nylon type spacers found at your local hardware store. I would recommend keeping the shroud intact, as it helps direct air to the radiator. I did a write-up with pics on this forum. Do a search.

One huge advantage I noticed was that my Air Conditioner was ice cold during idle conditions during the hot summers in Texas and Florida.

Be absolutely sure to get a good controller for your fan(s). DCController is a great place to get one of these. He has been building controllers for use in Mustang and other high performance conversions for years; they work great in our trucks.

BF, Just wanted to verify, the part # you list for your e-fan installation is for the 2 fan set for the 2010 trucks? I'm leary of used electrical parts, so I want all new, even though it'll cost more. I searched around and see you used the DCC FK-50 controller, with some kind of "filter".

...also, the fan part# has a new first digit, "A" changed to "B".

Bucko, I could not find your install post, but lucky13's post looks like it covers what's needed.

I have under $150.00 total (used 2 speed Mark VIII fan, and DC Controller). Have had it over a year now, with no issues or failures.

For the record, the electric 2 speed motor used in the Mark VIII e-fan is replaceable. It's a Siemens fan, available at your local parts store.
