Intake temp, avg MPH, Trans Temp, and Speed.

I think I remember something about the speed reading in the manual.

It says something like the speed on the edge will vary 3mph due to the difference between digital display and the factory analog gauge.

True that, mine said it would be "slightly different" due to the calibration of the spring used in the speedo. Mine has always showed different, but I expected this since it stated that in the manual.

I actually took mine off the dash because the screen keeps going blank when I crank it up occasionally. Do any of you guys Edge Programmer do this? I called Edge and they want 100 bucks to look into it. I tried the updates and it didn't fix the problem I just took it off the dash and put it in the console for the time being, but would love to put it back onthe dash.

this is a cool thread to sift through. i have an edge on the way, and i am debating which parameters to show. i thinking

instant mpg
avg mpg
tach
engine temp

i'll use the mpg stuff to "learn" how to drive the most efficiently, then change them to something else, maybe trans temp and ????

I use instant mpg, average mpg, engine temp, and mph.
Does anyone else still figure out total fuel mileage by hand? My edge reads anywhere from 1-2mpg better than what I actually calculate...

That's what I was saying. It reads better than what your actually getting. I think most people who say they gained like 2-3 mpg more with the EDGE/Gryphon is going by the screen and not hand calcuated.

That is why I changed it to something different.

I don't calculate by hand because I know my dash speedo is about 3 mph off according to my GPS. So therefore the miles the truck reads on the trip meter would actually be off and the hand calculation would not be correct. Now my Edge is dead on according to the GPS, so I would think the avg. mpg would be pretty close. However, I'm not one of the ones claiming 2-3 mpgs better when I added the Edge but I added the Edge at the same time I put 37"s and 4.88 gears!

Cylinder Head temp, Trans temp, Instant mpg, Average mpg. Part of me wants to change the AMPG to something else so I don't watch it so often, but it does make me a little softer on the gas pedal... I don't understand why some people are watching the coolant temp? Boring, it only shows 198 after the thermostat opens. I watch the CHT now, because it varies with engine load.

For those with stock intakes and outside temp gauges, take a look at the intake air temp. Ask yourself how an aftermarket intake gives you "colder, denser air for more power" when the stock one is only 2° above ambient... I'm not doubting the performance increases from an intake, in fact I want to get one, but I have an issue with thinking the increases are due to air temperature.

Why do you think they call them cold air intakes?

If they called them '2° below ambient intakes', no one would buy them. For most of the 2008 and earlier models, the Gotts mod will accomplish the same air flow 'increases'.
