Default Edge Evolution worth it for gas mileage?

Bought my first truck yesterday, an 05 F-150 King Ranch, I'm loving it. Previous owner took really good care of it, pretty much looks brand new. It is a lot different than my previous car, which was an 05 Subaru WRX STi with 520 hp and 530 ft/lb of torque, but I was just getting tired of dealing with it and wanted a change.

Anyway, is it worth it to purchase an Edge Evo for the increased gas mileage? I'm not expecting this to be a fuel efficient vehicle, but if doing this will increase the fuel efficiency enough to make the purchase worth it I will buy it. The truck has a tonneau cover on it already so that is helping some.

I found it was worth it. A few guys on here have gotten the gryphon upgrade from php for custom tunes. I noticed pulling my boat on level 2 I went from 11-12 to 14-15 at 55. And on I-10 from Houma to Baton rouge at 70-75 I was getting 19-20 on level 3. IMHO if you just want it for that it is worth it. Just stay out the gas. I went through 4 tanks before I noticed a difference in mpg. I loved the black marks I could leave. I have 06 lariat 5.4l 6.5' bed. Had 265/60-18.

I just put 275/70-18 on it. Just did the Gotts mod and will start tweaking level 2 to get more mpg around town and I-10 with the tires. But I am not expecting anything within 2-3 mpg of my old tires. Around town I would avg. 12-14 on lvl3 on old setting.

Sure, here are a few.

Right now my immediate plans with it are to tint the driver and passenger windows, Edge Evolution, 2.5 leveling kit, light smoke tint for the taillights and 3rd brake light, and a projector HID retrofit with Harley style painted headlights. Still thinking about exhaust, I got tired of all the noise my previous car made and am enjoying the nice quiet ride from the stock truck right now.

Nice, thanks for the info. Sounds like I'll go ahead and buy it. What is your mileage like on level 1?

Your Welcome, and very sexy machine you have there BTW!

I never drove it on level 1 to be honest. I bought mine for the towing option, since my truck had none.

If you check my pictures out I have a 2'' HBS(Hell Bent Steel - Best bang for your buck that I found anyway). Leveling Kit instead of the 2.5'' I wanted it to lean to the front only about a 1/2' to 3/4'' or so, since I do tow quite often and was trying to avoid the squat that will happen. If it does squat too bad I am going to add some coil over helper springs to catch it in the back and stop it from squating as bad.

I have the edge CTS for my 2004 ford f150 5.4l with a 2.5" level in the front. I also have 295/70 nitto Terra's and I'm averaging city+hwy around 15-16 mpg.

My edge tells me i get 19, but a quick full to empty tank calculation tells me im getting 17. Which is still better than what i used to get (14).

I assume the edge like the read out on the dash uses a weighted average instead of straight average like we calculate. That is the only thing I can see why it would be different. I have calculated mine several times, When I stay out of the gas it stays higher than calculated, and when I get on it it is closer or even lower than my calcluation. Just my $.02 here.

One way to get better mileage with the Edge is to put AMPG on the display. This keeps you from being lead footed, you become aware of how your mileage is affected by your driving habits. I bought mine for more power towing and the better mileage was a bonus. I would say I gained about 3-4 miles per gallon.

P.S. My displayed average miles per gallon are lower than my actual manual calculations when I fill up. It has been like this since I first got my Edge, about a 2 MPG difference consistently. With normal driving I display 15 but actual is 17. Not bad for a 4X4 and no real long runs.

I keep the IMPG up on mine. So I can see what my damage is in real time. Lol
