That depends on you. Personally, I think they're all miserably overpriced for what they are.

Any benefit in using one when towing?

i had one on my 05 xlt screw. used it for about 200k miles or so. i always ran the 91 oct performance tune. lil peppier seat of the pants style. i seam to remember about .5 sec faster 0-60 according to it. it went with the truck when sold at about 279k miles. always avg 14-15mpg with that truck before and after the tune. can't say i regretted the $300 or so it cost.

Recommended by a Martian, wow...

What I've read on the forum is that there are tow-specific tunes from some of the companies. However, unless you're towing something very heavy, or a tremendous amount of miles, I can't imagine the cost benefit would work.

Few people have tunes as compared to those that tow.

I have one, and I use it mostly for the correction for different size tires and also the gauges.

On the performance tune, I did gain some mpg over stock was the biggest thing. I would say 1-2mpg more I'm getting with the Edge. Used to get around 290miles per tank, now I'm at 330+.

Get yourself an SCT3 for the same price. (or less) It will do everything the Edge will, but can also use custom tunes. There is (or used to be?) one company that did tunes for the Edge. The SCT can take tunes from anyone. Canned tunes that come with the tuner are OK at best. A custom tune designed for what you plan to do with the truck will be way better.
