Edge CTS and Volant Intake Help
Just ordered the Edge CTS and the Volant Powercore Cold Air Intake. Was talking to a buddy and he was telling me that there is a problem with our trucks running Lean when you have a programmer mixed with a new Intake or an Exhaust. I have both of those. I was wondering if anyone knew anything more on this issue? Someone please let me know before I install them.

Murdered Out f150!
No, your truck will run lean if you run a cai without a tuner. you will probably need to send your tuner in to get it set up for your cai so your truck doesnt run lean. Hope this helped.

Just to echo what windham stated, you will NEED to get a custom tune for your Edge in order to prevent running lean. The programmer's "canned" tunes are built around the truck's stock components. Any modification (other than the programmer itself) will lead to the programmer not operating at maximum efficiency. You can get away with running canned tunes, CAI, modified exhaust, etc., without a custom tune but your truck will never realize the full performance enhancement of all your mods without that custom tune. Just speaking from a little experience. I ran a Edge Evo, K&N FIPK intake and "dummy dual" exhaust with a X crossover. Got great results and only a few engine stalls at low RPM with no load on the engine. BUT, a custom tune has set me straight. Wish I would have forked out the extra cash from the beginning.
Just my HO.

MP, went through Power Hungry Performance and had the Evo converted to a Gryphon. Search PHP Gryphon in these forums and you will see why it is worth it. I'm quite sure they can convert the CS and CTS as well.

PHP (Power Hungry Performance) is the only company capable of writing custom tunes for your Edge device. With the CS, all you will need to do is order the custom tunes and go through the server to download them when they're done.
If you can return the intake however, I'd do that and run the canned tunes and the Gotts mod. Then you can still get custom tunes for a better driving experience and not waste money on the intake.

It says on their website. If you buy it from them its $30 and if you buy it from someone else the tune is $60. I got my tuner at autoplicity.com for $483 which is about $80-100 cheaper than anywhere else I found it.

Yep. You used to have to send the Evo's in to be converted. Bill finally got stuff around on their server (Pegasus) so it can all be done online now. Just order the tunes and download Pegasus. If you have anymore questions about the process, check out the PHP forum on their website.
