props to : Speeddemon86, 07RedMonster, Nrceptr and Dereku for the positive feedback.
thank you
All I was saying is there is no need to rant like you just did to me.

And also, I think that in order to this project you will probably need to do some welding. May want to practice that up if you aren't too familiar with it.

Eh not worth the headache in the long run the possibility of everything coming together perfectly on the first few tries is slim to none... I agree with whoever said just buy a turbo for the v6.

Well been wondering when someone would post about doing the swap.. if u have a complete downer vehicle its really not that hard.. but very labor intensive. And yes it can be done I did one a few months back at the dealership on a 04. We do alot of custom work also.. wiring needs modified. Motor mount bracket need made.. and alot of other odds and ends. Labor was about 8 grand and took around 2 wks to complete it was alot of trial and error to get it running properly . I know when the time comes for a new motor in my truck that's what will be going in mine by the time that happens the eco boost should be more readily available ..

no doubt you can build a 4.2 with more power but building one with more power and the torque curve, dependability and gas mileage to rival the ecoboost would take alot of r&d and be a major task in it self. Then you would still be stuck with the inherent flaws of the 4.2 and dated drive train. Sometimes it's not just power but technology. I would have the new 6 speed trannie and 3.73 rear end in my XL that is probably lighter that the vehicle it came in hopefully giving me more power and mpg.
