I have read that thread. And im not hating.

You can but a totaled eco for like 12k on ebay that can be fixed like new for 3 to 5k. Those are the ones people normally talk about.

And if you wanna put an ecoboost in something it would be pretty simple if you can buy the whole truck.

Then be prepared to have 2 frame off projects at once to swap every thing over. I mean fuel lines, rear axles, all electronics dang near everything.

If you are willing to put in the time go for it.

But even if you need a new cab and all new body panels on that eco it still might be cheaper and lest time consuming.

Default more money

new trannie is a 6 speed found a bunch all for $1175 prob need rearend and custom drive shaft, fab intercooler mount and possibly the motor and trans mounts. now total will be around $18000 still $10000 under the cheapest used 2011 ecoboost but starting to not look as good as it did when i thought it might be done with $12000.
thanks to all in the forum for all input sorry about the attitude, i like to be discouraged by facts not opinion.
still would love this thread to go on and develop into a future reference on the subject. someday these parts will be cheaper and some one might mass produce the fab parts. the prices on the parts i found $3000 to $5000 for motor and $1175 for 6 speed were from grade a low mile vehicles less than 10000 miles.
again sorry for attitude and thanks to all members for all info.

Hey no biggie i guess say dont do it was kind of uninformed.

But i would look at those ones with wrecked front ends on ebay for 12 to 14 grand. Yeh they look different but i like it all for the ecoboost. I could care less if it was a turd painted pink i would drive it still.

It really shouldn't be a big deal, the engine compartments are very similar/the same. There is a guy on here that swapped Raptor front panels/hood onto a 04-08.

Get in touch with a couple wrecking yards and see about a package deal for everything - it won't cost anywhere near 18k and don't see why there would be any 'fabrication', the frames should be the same as well. You'll probably have to get creative on the trans mount and will more than likely need a custom length driveshaft.

Aside from drilling some holes and maybe welding a tab or two it should be relatively easy if you have any experience wrenching.

wow
i apologized 5 hours ago first of all and second i was happy to begin the thread only to get what i thought mainly was negative feedback. i got 2 kinds of feed back:
1 positive that actually added to the discussion and 2 negative which had nothing to do with the discussion and mainly about what someone could afford. who cares how much money some one has. its there's to spend.
lastly i must now apologize for this thread turning into a bunch of arguing over opinion instead of rationalization of facts. which was my intent.
if any one has any knowledge to add to the thread concerning the swap please, please chime in...
