Default Drop in air filter - Dry style

Anyone have an AEM Dry or AFE Pro DRY S filter on their 5.4? The panel type, not conical....How do they fit? Do they seal up well vs OEM?

Thanks!

I had the AEM. It was fine in warm weather. Tons of issues in cold weather. Seeing as you are in TX, you are fine. Really seemed to help let it breathe easier. I miss mine. Should have kept it for the warm months here in Kansas. May buy another. As far as sealing, not near as well as the OEM or WIX with the felt seal. I think thats what caused my issues. So I may buy another AEM and attach the felt from my WIX filter to help seal it.

They all have the felt seal. Its needed. Our stock air filter tray sucks. FRAM anything sucks IMO.

I'm not arguing for or against any product, but wanted to comment that I usually put Fram's in mine because they're readily available. Every time I pull the old one I can see a full perimeter impression in the felt indicating a good seal. They also appear to be made of a decent weight paper. A couple days ago I was helping my son do a few basic maintenance items on his truck and he had an STP replacement air filter. I was surprised by the transparency of the paper and how little it weighed. Again, I have no particular brand loyalty.

Have you ever used a WIX? Night and Day difference over FRAM.

I haven't used Wix but I'll figure out who carries them locally and pick one up. I'm just about due anyway. I have been buying Fram because thats what they carry at Wal-Mart and I go there for Motocraft oil / filters , and Rotella T6 for the 6.7. For some reason Fram is the only air filter my store carries.

LOL, I buy my Motorcraft 5W20 and FL820S at Walmart, its okay. I just despise FRAM because of the known studies on the poor filtration of their products.

It likes the new home in Florida
Zero issues so far. Can't say I noticed any difference vs conventional, other than long term savings $$
