Default Door Ajar

hi, i have a 2006 ext cab f150. a few months ago the door ajar light and alarm started going off randomly when i was driving. i took it to mechanic they took a look at all wires in the boot and nothing is broken, they also lubbed up the latch and everything. the sound and alarm stopped until now. so i decided to take a look myself and no wires are broken and i used to electrical contact cleaner in the connections. this worked for about a half a day then it started again. the strange this is now when i press unlock/lock is sets off ajar alarm. does anyone know where to go from here...is it possible the connectors are bad? (also should mention it does it alot on bumpy road or when i play music loud as i have a after market sound system with subwoofer and when you slam the door really hard it seems to temporarly solve problem for a bit)...thanks

I believe it's time to replace the latch assy. They eventually wear out over time.

Looks like your actual door ajar switch needs to be replaced. WHen you put the lube in there it was a temporary fix.

I did the replacement a few weeks ago, you don't replace the latch but the switch that is in the latch.

To do this you need to take off the inner door panel, and take out the latch assembly from the door. Inside that latch assembly is the door ajar switch, I think it's $20 from the dealer.

thank you both for the reply, i think i will try actuator first since it is cheaper to see if that solves the problem.

That to me appears to be the door lock/unlock actuator. All that does is activate the door locking mechanism. The part you need is simple a switch to tell the truck if the door is open or closed. This is probably more like what you need. http://www.tascaparts.com/ford/f-150...or-ajar-switch

Thats it just make sure you get the right side. There is a driver and passenger switch, they have different PN's.
