Dome lights and Bed lights randomly turn on... help
#12
Did you ever figure this out?
Did you ever figure out the domelight problem? My 2004 has the exact same problem. Weird. I can hit the dash by the headlamp switch and control the dome light (not 100%, but mostly). That said, the dimmer switch turns the dome light on without problem.

I am also having the exact same problem, and again replacing the switch did not fix it. Replacing the battery did not fix it. Given that hitting the dash board just above or below the switch causes it to turn on and off (as well as going over bumps in the road) I think it is safe to say that there is a loose connection or something in the wiring, but does anyone have any idea where the issue might be? I've had the truck for about a year now ('05 Lariat XCab) and it is extremely annoying. If I turn the dimmer switch all the way down and off, it keeps it from happening, but this doesn't work at night unless you can drive with no lights on the instrument panel. I've seen this issue on a number of websited but have yet to see a legitimate fix. HELP!

I'm seeing a similar issue. I just traded in my 97 F350 for a 06 F250 Lariat, I thought the bulbs were going to be dead but thats not it.
yesterday after a short drive i opened the door and the dome lights were working, i used the dimmer and turned them on and off a bunch. after i came out of the parts store they werent working again.
I will let you know what I find out

So sadly mine was a easy fix, since my light went on sometimes a assumed the fuse was good. Keep in mind i just bought this used.
Fuse 35 in the box was blown but had a very thin wire wrapped around the prongs to bypass it
I pulled the fuse for upfitter #4 until i can get to the store
I highly doubt this will help anyone else

Figured it out
I was having this same problem. I replaced the switch module that has the headlight switch and dimmer (new one from the Ford dealership). $135 later it didn't help. After some research on multiple forums, I found the answer. There are 2 wiring harnesses that plug into the top of the gauge cluster. I unplugged these, blew out both plugs and sockets with compressed air, plugged the wiring harnesses back in and so far so good.

Hey! I'm having the exact same issue right now. Got into the dash and fiddling with the harness connection closest to the door triggers the lights going on/off. How did you end up fixing this please?
