Default Does the 5.4 Triton have COPs

Hay All a little off topic my Gardner Friend just bought a 2006 F-250 that's in great shape 80,000 for 5,000 here in upstate NY the Engine is sound no smoking and no Knock on a Brake Torque,I looks like a Push Rod Motor but its using oil I want to do a compression Check share your thoughts

Yes, Ford used Coil on Plug on nearly everything since 1998.

Yup and tell your friend to have a few laying around because they will start going at some point. Also, they seem to only like OEM coils. I had an 01 and had to replace several. Some guys replaced them all at once when they go but I did one at a time and just carried a spare.

or just replace the boots and springs as I've read on this Forum as the COPs aren't always the fault...good luck

Do you think the oil consumption could be the Valve Seals I know they had the Umbrella type seals and got dried out and cracked

Well it's definitely NOT a pushrod motor.

Miles on the plugs aren't enough to burn up the coils, boots/springs should suffice; but he'll want to change the plugs to Motorcraft SP546s while he can (and hopefully not break any).

How much oil is it consuming? If it's a pint every oil change, I wouldn't worry about it.

It swalled 2 1/2 Quarts in about 1000 miles he defiantly has a problem.
