And if so how? Mine is lookign pretty nasty. I was thinkign of spraying it down with degreaser then hosing it down but Im worried about the water getting into bad places.

You are correct to fear this.

If you wash it out be sure to use the fine spray and use air to blow out the excess from the crevices especially by the plugs. Several sad people have oxidized the plugs and made a possibly treacherous situation into an even larger mess for sure.

I wipe mine down every week after it gets its good wash. It's clean, so it is easy to do. If yours is grungy, I'd buy a couple of rools of paper towels and some simple green or 409, and get it clean that way. I'd refrain from the engine degrease and spray down; too much electronics and sensors to give you grief.

great!! just yesterday I sprayed the whole thing down with Gunk and then hosed it off, not cautious of anything but the ac intake. I have not experienced any electronic problems yet. Sincity tell us more about the sparkplug tragedy.

i just usually leave it running and spray it down. i go to the local DIY carwash and set it to the "engine cleaner" setting and spray it with that then rinse it off with the high pressure rinse, but holding it kinda far away. i havent had any problems yet (knock on wood) and thats how ive always done mine

Why didn't they just waterproof the engine components?

Is that a stupid question?

it is for the most part waterproof but the not to the point where you could blast it with high pressure water but just a quick rinse shouldnt hurt anything just stay away from the obvious areas that you shouldnt get wet and you are allset then take an air hose and go around and dry all the areas that you cant wipe down!!

I've always just used Gunk and a hose pipe. Park the truck in the sun. Lift the hood, spray the gunk and hose down. Leave it sat in the sun for a couple hours and your good to go

I make my detailing shop do it, so if they mess it up they can also fix it. Plus with my lift most engine work blows..
