Ok guys I have owned a 2004 f150 but didn't like how it had the cam phasers but did like the truck itself well I sold it and bought a 2003 f150 fx4 supercrew. And I sold it the other day. But in a bind I've been wanting a diesel. But do if I should get the f250 or a f150. What do you guys think? Here is a diesel I'm lookin at for $8000 it's a 2003 f250 lariat fx4 crew with heated leather seats, moonroof, sliding back glass has 221k, new tires. New battery's has the 6.0 diesel.

"Why Leave it Stock?"
It looks great for being a 2003, just make sure the maintenance on the interior is matched my the engine. The 6.0 is great if you keep it checked regularly, but tends not to have the 7.3's longevity.

Nothing wrong with a 6.0. The only 6.0s that had problems were 03-05 and only a small percentage. If this truck has lasted 10 years, id say its done its job and if anything goes wrong its just from the wear and tear of 200k+ miles. Id say thats a fair price, id go for it

The high praise heaped on the 7.3 is unwarranted. They are not nearly as good as people make them out to be. They do have their own set of issues and are underpowered compared to any modern diesel.
A friend of mine is a Ford diesel specialist and when I called to ask him about a 7.3 I was looking at he told me if I buy it don't call him about repairs, he won't touch it. After a long discussion with him on the subject I will no longer consider a 7.3.
The 6.0, save for a few issues that can be fixed, was one of hte best diesels built. If you are willing to spend the $1500 to $5000 (fix yourself or pay to have it done) to fix it, they are awesome.
The biggest issues was guys trying to mod the 6.0 without fixing the inherent issues (needing head studs over the stock bolts is one of them).
All that being said, you need to figure what it is you really want or need. If you are concerned about cam phasers on the 5.4 then stay away from all diesels because their issues are far more expensive to fix! A diesel can be fun to own but maitenance is very expensive. Oil changes alone are at least double the cost of a gaser. This is not to say stay away just be aware.

At my last 2 jobs we had f450s with 6.0 deisels. The 04 f450 was nothing but problems since day one, purchased brand new 0 miles. Alot of engine work done under warranty. I dont work there anymore but last i heard the truck needs a motor and doesnt have 150k on it yet. My current job we had 2 of these. Both 05 f450s. They have both been in the shop a ton for motor issues. Injectors, EGR, injectors again etc.. Early last year one of the motors went out on the truck that didnt even have 160k on it. The one that still runs is in the shop at least every other month with an engine issue. All work done at the Ford dealer ship. I think there is a reason that a class action lawsuit is against Ford for the issues the 6.0 has. I wouldnt even think about buying one but thats my opinion.
