I believe they were around $70/pair... they sound good stock as well

Thanks! Did you have to cut out the plastic on the door or does it fit under the plastic?

I'm not sure I understand your question... are you talking about the door panels? You have to remove the door panels to replace the speakers.

I have a super cab with two 10" Memphis m3 sub woofers under the back seat with a 1000 watt alpine amp I think the mounting depth is a little more than 5.5" (don't remember) I just had to modify the box some.

I meant the plastic panel with the holes that cover the stock speakers... I've seen on some other cars with aftermarket speakers that they have to modify that piece, such as cutting out a circle and letting the speaker hook on outside of the door panel

As long as you get the right sized speaker, it just mounts in the same spot, no cutting or modifying needed.

JL 1000. It's a 13.5" subwoofer. Look it up on google! I wanna say the box is only 3" high. It's crazy!

How do those jl's sound do you have any pics? Do they hit all the low end notes good? I had two 10" JL w3 before my Memphis m3's and they didn't do to well in the small box I had. I know those shallow mounts are meant for smaller air space. here's a pic of my memphis m3's

I have two 10" DC Audio Level II competition subs in a down-firing box. IMO, down-firing boxes are your best bet. The bass gets sent directly to the frame of the truck, which takes out all of the unnecessary 'crap' noise, but bumps like crazy. My system sounds extremely clean with this setup. The subs are relatively inexpensive for comp subs. These are the subs I went with (level II) :

I mounted the amp to the wall behind the rear seats (yes, you have to remove the rear seats to do this...), but my 1000w D class amp wouldn't fit under the front seats and I didn't want it visible or in the way.

Are you replacing the door speakers?
I keep hearing about DC Audio.. May have to check them out
