has anyone ever used one of these? Winter is starting to get here and was wondering if something like this would be ok to use until i get a block heater installed(hopefully before next winter)? I know i would have to make sure i get the correct length but all i need for that is a tape measure and i have seen them in many different lengths.

We tried using one in an old diesel tractor. It didn't make any difference, maybe it will be useful for you but for such a tiny element I have a hard time believing it will make a significant difference in 7 quarts without burning. Also, your dipstick doesn't go all the way to the bottom of your oil pan.

looks like a waste of $20 if you ask me, i think your better off saving for the block heater.
does it really get that cold in Nebraska to warrant getting an engine block heater, just curious

I would not waste my time and hard earned money for either.
A block heater maybe if you were going to leave it sit for weeks at a time in minus degree temps. If you drive it daily it should be just fine.
