Din at highway speeds - except when turnng left
 

Here's an odd one. at highway speeds I have a din in the passenger compartment - except when the steering wheel is turned to the left. Obviously, at highway speeds, it takes very little wheel movement to bring on the silence. While traveling straight or turning right, I here the din. I'm thinking some type of bushing (maybe rubber) in the front end that is "unloaded" when turning left. Truck is a 2007 4X4 with 160K miles. I did have the steering shaft (in the engine compartment) replaced maybe 50K ago. The lower universal joint gets a lot of road crap on it and starts to stick. I would spray both joints with WD40 and buy several months of normal operation. Eventually the WD40 stopped working and the replacement was necessary. I also thought that perhaps that replacement shaft (I don't think it was a Ford part) could be experiencing a different failure symptom. Lastly, I am getting an occasional ABS light that goes out once the truck is stopped and re-started - maybe once every 2 or 3 weeks - not sure if that is related but it started around the time that the din did. Thanks in advance for any advise.

Classic wheel/hub bearing failure. You'll have to investigate further to find.. Try jacking up front, grabbing wheel at 12 and 6 and shaking... try on both front wheels. Start engine and spin the tires (if 4x4s... if 2wd dont bother starting engine), listen for bearing noise.

I'm betting it's a front wheel bearing starting to go out. Mine started with a very low howl whenever I turned the wheel to the right. Got worse as time went on (till I finally got off my lazy butt and replaced the bearing) Oh and if you're wondering / wishing / and hoping.... it wont get better by itself :)

Congratulations, its the first time I have ever heard of DIN being applied to a car noise . The din of a stadium or so ,crowds etc yes . My head went around what kind of spelling mistake was this . We just got another education .
