did you replace or reseal your 3rd brake light?

Edit: And I haven't removed the antenna yet.

If you want to check if/where it leaks- close the windows and turn the fan on high, not on recirc, take a spray bottle of soapy water, spray the light and look for bubbles. Mine was leaking through the screw holes-yes there were o-rings in there. I added one bead of clear silicone across the top edge and filled the screw holes too. Been good about a year now. I knew it was leaking because there was condensation on the inside of the lens.

For now I ended up using clear silicon as well. I did a bead all the way around it and filled the screw holes. I plan on leak checking it tomorrow. I don't mind replacing it, but my tails are factory and I wonder what it would look like with just the third light as LED. My current project I'm saving for tires and rims!!!!

When replacing burned out bulbs I thought the seal looked a little lame. Kind of a thin felt strip, hardly a waterproof type item... Now a year later I have condensation in the light housing and the inside of the windshield coated with dew in the morning. I'll have to rummage around the garage to see what caulking and/or sealants are on hand. Ho-hum.
Maybe add one of these (leaking brake light) threads to the common item sticky? Lots of people still ask about it before searching...

My light was leaking - leaked onto the rear seat directly behind the driver. The factory gasket had shrunk and moved. I went to Lowes and bought some 3/8" wide weather stripping that was sticky on one side only. Made a new gasket with this and placed it on the light with the adhesive. It has sealed the leak completely.

I noticed mine was leaking when I went through an automatic service car wash. The pressurized water leaked through the third brake light and ended up on my seats, and back window. I used some black rubberized strip caulking pieces we had at work to seal the surround underneath the light (same compound used to seal that plastic on the interior door panels from the factory). It makes it watertight, and somewhat easier to remover than clear silicone beads later on, plus the caulking is underneath the light and pressed where it sits so you don't actually see the compound.
