Wow this cloves kit seems to have its faults from what I'm gathering.
Have you guys considered using shellack on the tensioner gaskets?

The ford tensioners has a tackier silicon type seal and a re-enforced wall completely around it. The cloyes left a 1/4in gap at the bottom so the gasket warps up and leak out.

Is this a revised ford tensioner? Or is it the original. I'd like to prevent any blown out gaskets in the future. I was gonna shellack the cloves tensioner gasket, but I will buy a ford revised tensioner instead if this "reinforced wall" is some kind of new revision.

Yes it's a revised one from ford but the full wall looks to be the same as original just a thicker silicone looking gasket. my original ford tensioner had a thin/flat gasket.

Did you just replace the tensioners? This weekend mine started this S*** every time . I checked and the passengers side phaser is locking I think the tensionse is bleeding down. Trying to decide if I am going to replace everything or just the tesnsioner. Did you re-use the front cover gaskets or order new. If I don't replace the timing set I think I am going to just pull all the valve cover bolts and not take them off the engine to avoid all the BS that brings.

To put icing on the cake my drivers side window regulator broke this weekend!

Just the tensioners and I reused all my gaskets that I bought the last time. Mine started clanking at every start regardless of hot or cold. I recommend changing them soon or your guides might wear fast, at least mine had deep groves at the top near the cam phaser.
I tried leaving the valve covers on to avoid the extra work but the gaskets messed up.

I noticed the same thing when I got mine apart. The cloyes tensioner arms are worn in one week about the same at the factory ones in 64K miles.

Now, with the factory tensioners I have a good seal with 40PSI oil pressure at hot idle.

Amazon sent me a second set of phasers to replace the defective one (not locking), and they are doing the same thing, meaning they are not locking when the engine is cold and rumbling on start up. I'm really sick of this S**t, and I'm done with after market parts. I'm buying a factory set of phasers and installing them.

Thanks, I am working on putting a detached garage in once that is done I am going to do this. I assume this fixed your noise? I was thinking loosen the valve covers and tie them up off the head just not snake out from under the AC and vac lines. This Sucks

Yeah my new guides were on 3 months and they were way worse than the 80k ones I removed.. Crazy
I will only use ford parts especially for internals from here on out. Lesson learned.
