And now to revive an old thread...

I actually need to winterize my vehicle, as I didn't want to pay the dealership $500 to do so.

Since the truck came with an engine block heater, I still need to add a battery trickle charger and pad heater, oil pan heater, transmission pan heater, change out the power steering fluid to arctic rated stuff, and make sure the antifreeze is good to -60 Fahrenheit.

Some of my southcentral and southeast Alaskan brethren will argue that winterization is not required, but I don't think they've ever tried starting a truck that hasn't been plugged in after sitting for 12 hours at -50.

I would say that for 95% of truck owners in America winterization is not necessary due to the fact that gasoline engines will start when properly maintained at very very low temperatures

i would think that when they say winterize, they mean prepare it to store for the winter, like the motorcycles... if so.... change oil, remove spark plugs, spray wd40 or equivalent in the holes, wax it, lube it, disconnect gas lines, used all the gas until it die, remove the battery, put it in a trickler charger, a few more things and put it in the storage....

now if they mean just to be ready for the winter where you will keep driving it.... nothing special really... maybe double check your battery as it usually dies faster in the winter in the north areas....
