Default Dash cluster instrument panel

I have removed the dash cluster to upgrade the lighting, only to find out I have the wrong bulbs. I have 94's, and now see I should be using 74's, that correct? I assume that I can get them in colors?

My other question, is, my odometer is working, but the plexi window cover is hazed, and makes the readout barely visible. Is there a fix for that, or do we replace the odometer cluster, and if so, do you loose your correct mileage, or will it display the correct mileage based on the computer output.

thx. 04 FX4

The back lights and the bulbs for the turn signals, etc are slightly different. Same base, different wattage. If my memory serves me correctly, the back lights are brighter. If you put the bright ones in the turns, cruise, odometer, etc, they will blind you. You don’t have a lot of options for colors as the cluster has a green film on it and the needles are red. 6000k white will give you a more true green and less yellow tint. 2700k leds will match the current color. Other colors just don’t look right unless you replace the needles and remove the green film. Taking apart the cluster isn’t hard, but the stepper motors are fragile and can easily break. Went thought this on my old 2008 and ruined the cluster. Had to replace it.

my odometer digi readout is electdonic (FX4), just can't see it, because of the window is now textured and hazed from age, so difficult to see it. I guess, will have to experiment with the bulbs as you noted. I see all these dash cluster upgrade lighting mod's and LED lights that state F150, so I guess I should pay more attention, as now have a bunch of194's in different colors which now won't work

OK, for those who might have the same problem as I..... odometer digital readout lens all hazed out, ,,, since I already had the cluster out, I used a clearcoat polish to polish out the lens. Did this 3 or 4 times, like our headlights, and made a huge difference. Enough so, that I should be good for another 5 years or so. Everything backm8n and operating, except for the LED swap,,which I'll do later. The lens had bubbles, which made me think it was more than just a haze, but it worked
