DIY bedliner
Anyone have pics of some? I'm thinking of doing this because water settles under my drop in, and I don't have $550 for line X although it will def be done later in the future hopefully.

Yeah I have the Hercules stuff on my truck. Got it at Advance Auto for 70 a gallon. You will probably need a little more to do the bed correctly depending if you like the thick coats or just enough to cover the paint. I went middle of the road since I dont really use the bed but wanted the look and the protection for longevity.
I also did my fender flares and bed rail caps in the stuff and love it. I can say that it wont give you the protection that the spray in Line-x will give you but thats why that stuff is so expensive. The Hercules is pretty good stuff but throwing sharp metal objects in the back might chip it.
It is pretty gritty and rough to the touch but thats good for stuff not sliding around on it. It goes on with a little roller that comes with the kit or you can use a paint brush. The roller will give you the best look and uses a good amount coat wise.

I know it's backwards
Don't do the DIY stuff if you plan on doing Line-X in the future. You'll need major work to get it off.
Maybe you could put some grease where the water puddles to protect it? (or just pull out the bedliner until you get your Line-X).

I like the way it came out a lot and for me, It protects against my mountain bike that i put in there from scratching up the bed. I used 1 gallon and then a little quart one. I used the quart for touch up and then for the bed rail caps. If I were to do it again, I would get 2 gallons and just slop it on there not caring how much I used. The more you use the grittier (made up word?) it looks and the better its gunna last. It will take like a couple days to fully cure. Just let it bake in the sun and youll be golden.

Hell no, I just washed it out with water and went to it. haha. It might be better if you do but I cant see how. You are just painting/rolling this stuff on. It is going to dry and adhere to anything it touches. Which reminds me, be careful putting it on. It took me almost a full week of showering/scrubbing to get the stuff off my hands and arms. I even got methanol, acetone, and isopropanol from work and it still didnt come off. But yeah it doesnt really matter if you sand it or not. Try to get it relatively clean but you are just going over everything anyways.
