Default Cutting off muffler and back?

Hi everyone, I'm wanting to get true dual straight pipes with an X-pipe but until I can find somewhere to do that I was curious if it would be safe to just cut my muffler and back off? Would the pipe end up being to short and mess up the engines back pressure? Would there be anything else that could go wrong with that?

Going to sound like a logging truck and thats the least of ur worries!!!! Going to get exhaust fumes all in ur truck and even after u run straight pipes, its still gonna sound like junk!!!! Buy a muffler with single inlet and dual outlet and run duals out the back!!!!

I agree... this will sound awful.
But... to each their own.

My last truck was a '98 with a 4.6L. I had the muffler removed and ran a pipe straight from the cat. back. It was single exhaust. Sounded only slightly louder at an idle (a bit of a "rumble" to it too). However, when you got on the gas, it ROARED!

I thought it sounded great.

I just had my muffler replaced with a piece of pipe and left the rest of the system stock. It was real cheap to get done at a local exhaust shop and sounds really good. It's more aggressive than my friends truck with Si/Do flowmasters and just about as loud.

You need to find "Bubba's Friendly Muffler Shop" and pay CASH! Most of these small, back woods shops will do it if you pay cash and don't ask for a receipt and swear that you'll never tell anyone that he did it.

It's very much illegal here in Louisiana too. However, times are tough and money talks.
