Unhappy cruise control not working

I have a 2005 f150 king ranch super crew. I replaced all bulbs with led's the last one I replaced was the third brake light. While doing so I accidentaly shorted out the wires while testing the light. After that the dash lights and window controls weren't working. I replaced a 15 amp fuse and they work now, however the cruise control is not working. It used to work perfectly. How can I get it to work again?

Have you tried putting the original bulbs back in? That's your first troubleshooting step - rule out the light bulbs or show them as the cause.

Take the led bulb out of the third brake light and put the OEM bulb back in and test it...

Yea. You lost it because the cruise control is based on the electrical impulse read at the bulb. You either need to add resistors or change your blinker relay.

Here's the one I got -- I got it because you can use a mix of LED or incans on it without popping the circuit. Just in case you want to get quirky.

I personally hate the way integrated SMDs look in a brake light. Multiple SMD LEDs that you can clearly see through the acrylic looks cheap to me. And if one burns out you either need to find another one and solder it yourself, or hope that your part has a warranty and they're quick on the RMA.

Not an indictment on people who use them, I just personally dislike them for a couple reasons, one even just me being vain.

They are only $32 shipped free.. had an LED burn out like you said but, it lasted 5 years. I love the look and it matches my LED tails.

Absolutely fair that you like the look.

The part I suggested is $14 shipped free and will fix his immediate issue ;-)

It should also be available locally if he can get to a NAPA.

When buying the EP27 flasher, make sure you get one for LEDs. There is a difference.
