Today. The only thing out of the ordinary that I can think of is last night I accidentally put a non-chipped door key into the ignition. I don't know if that has anything at all to do with it.

Are there any diagnostic tricks, or relays to check, or whatever?

The key wouldn't affect that. Check the brake switch. You can pull the pedal up with your foot while trying it to see if it has a problem. Have you checked the fuses?
