Default Crank no start - random stalling

2006 f150 5.4l

Sometimes wouldn't start up and then the next day would. While driving it might die at idle or while starting to move. While driving at fast enough speeds you can feel it cut out, then kick back in.

Recently drove 1.5hrs, shut off for an hour or so, and wouldn't start. Will fire on starting fluid. Pump is not priming. Swapped pump. Still nothing. Checked #9 fuse for relay and it's good. Swapped to be sure. Check inertia switch. I believe its down, but uncertain. Disconnected plug and inserted a 20amp fuse to make sure. Still nothing.

I know it could be the pump relay that is hardwired in, the fuel pressure sensor FPS, or the fuel module by the back tire.

Unfortunately the truck is still 1.5hrs from me. I will check the cable connections on the side of the driver side frame rail as I've recently read this could be the problem. Seems the modules also have issues with corrosion.

Any way to test the module or FPS? Anything else I'm not considering?

Read up on FPDM. You can bypass/jumper the FPDM. Ready the sticky thread first.

(ie: bypass/jumper it just to test it, not that your drive it while jumpered)

You are all correct. It was the fpdm. Appreciate the help.

Good rule of thumb, start with the easy stuff, unless you're sure of the problem.

Glad you got it fixed, I keep a spare FPDM in my truck just in case.
