Converting to electric windows/locks...
Thanks for all the help guys! I like that kit that nairb25 posted but im doin some calling around the area to find some panels and everything else around here. But it looks like that kit is my best bet
I bought a power window kit from www.a1electric.com. It was cheaper then the Ford dealer and you can choose the switches you want. Look at my profile pictures. I have a picture of the door panel after the kit was installed. I have a 04 F150 STX Spacecab. I have had it for 5 years now and no problems.
TRUCKIN' magazine did a power door lock and power window install two issues ago. They used kits from a company: WWW.ELECTRIC-LIFE.COM
Door lock kits are cheap. Power window kits can be too, but that's where you have to be careful: the cheap ones use a thin "ball-link" type chain to open/close the window from the motor. This link resembles that of a pull chain for switching on/off a ceiling light in a house. They can break easily. Be careful buying a cheap power window kit. If it's significantly cheaper than other kits, theres a reason why.
For the record, I bought a power door lock kit off of ebay for $30.00; came with two nice keychain type door fobs for locking/unlocking, plus 4 door actuators and the pre made wiring harness. I only needed two actuators, as I have a 2005 STX standard cab. Only problem I had with the kit was that it had a white and brown wire from the "control box" that would connect to a door switch (for those that would want to lock/unlock the doors from a switch as well as a remote key fob). I did not install a door switch, but this additional wiring was preventing the doors from unlocking when I pressed the unlock button on the fob. I cut the brown and white wire from the harness connector to the box, and it all works fine. A little bit of drilling to mount the actuators after removing the door panels, and running the wiring into each door. Give yourself a half day to 3/4 of a day to do it all nice and neat.
