Question PLEASE HELP,,,Cold air intake just installed but mpg dropped ???

I just finished installing an airaid cai on my 04 5.4 supercrew 4x4. When taking the stock intake off, I decided to take the throttle body off and clean it which was very very dirty. After instalation of cai it really sounded and felt like the engine came to life, even my flowmaster 50 series got a little louder. I have more pickup and it feels like I don't have to push near as hard or far on the pedal at any speed fast or slow!! But for some reason my computer says that I am only getting like 11-13 mpg. But before with stock intake and a k&n filter I got 16-19 mpg at 75 mph. Oh yeah I also had taken off the last little piece of air duct that connects into the fender. Any ideas or advice from anyone?? Truck has 81,000 miles

I just took truck on interstate about 30 miles and it seems that maybe the computer calibrated itself while Driving. At 70 mph on cruise control on totally flat ground it says between 19-21 mpg!! I know that I still need to calculate it by hand but I think that it helped my mpg on the highway. In stop and go traffic it has more power for sure and a deeper throatier sound but the mpg looks like it dropped, seems like it's always below 10 mpg on computer.

Eh. I get ~10-11 in town. On the highway going ~65 I can get 15. Going 85+ I get 11.8 (hand calculated on a road trip moastly highway going 85+ the whole way). I have custom tunes, CAI, exhaust

Yeah but a 6 inch lift and big tires will negate any tune. Thats more weight to lug around, plus more wind resistance.

Sure do like my 4.2 V6.....17 to 18 in the city, and an honest 21 on the highway from Dallas to Orlando last week.

And I cruised at 75 to 80 during the trip. I was not able to get to those speeds as fast as you V8 guys, but the MPG out weigh that neck snapping speed you get!
