The noise you're looking for is a "deep throaty" noise when under heavy throttle. You'll know it when you hear it. A buddy of mine has a K&N CAI on his Mazda 6 and you can hear it even in the car next to him. So you'll know it when you hear it. Might wanna try flooring it.

gotcha...may be hard to hear over the exhaust though. Also, I have read that you should unplug the battery so that the computer can reset and adapt to the changes with the amount of air. Any truth to this, if so, maybe that is what i need to do. If they did it upon installation, all of my radio channels would have been gone, so I dont think they did. Again, any truth to the battery thing? Thanks!

Yeah, that is true (as far as I know). When I went to Wyotech in Laramie, WY, I drove from Houston, TX to there and when I got there, I had to do that due to the changes in altitude and the difference in air. Can't hurt anything. But yeah, with a CAI and exhaust, you're off to a good start. If you can't hear it over the exhaust, try popping the hood and using the throttle cable to rev up the motor... You should hear a pretty obvious sucking noise. Might wanna try a bigger throttle body now to compliment it. Also, look into the DiamonBird mod. Seems to work for about 85% of people that do it and it's 100% free.
As far as MPGs go, from my understanding, the easier your motor works, the better it runs and the less work it has to do. So if it takes less to do more, then I would THINK you should see an improvement in MPGs. But at the end of the day, the best way to get better MPGs is a lighter throttle.

Read through this post and you'll find it. In a nut shell here's what you do:
1: With pedal fully engaged, check for fire wall clearance.
2: If clear, Turn key to "on" position (do not turn vehicle on)
3: Slowly press down throttle all the way.
4: Quickly release pedal.
5: Turn key to "off" position.
6: Repeat 2-5 3 times.

I tried it but did not notice any difference. However, I may have been rushing it because I did it in a hurry to get somewhere. I will try it again in just a bit. I did notice that on the 3rd time I pressed the pedal in it seemed to be very stiff, almost to the point of not wanting to go down. Is that normal?

Not that I know of. The only pedal that should do that is the BRAKE pedal. But the THROTTLE shouldn't. Try it again. It should take about 10 seconds to push the throttle down from top to bottom. And make sure after you turn the key to the on position to wait for the chimes to stop.
