Default Code B1352 - Ignition Key in circuit fault

Hey everyone, first time posting so be kind!

Ford F150 2008 SuperCrew cab 5.4L

My car has developed an issue similar to the one in the link below.

I would say, every 3 or so days when I put my key in the ignition and try and turn it, the red light on the dash flashes rapidly and the truck will not turn over or start. All other electrics work fine.

As a temporary fix, I disconnect the battery for around 30 seconds and reconnect. This then allows it to start and runs like a dream.

This first happened when I was out of town and a Ford dealer took a look at the issue when it was recovered. They stated that they inspected the wiring and did a wiggle test. Cleared codes and B1352 came back. They then adjusted the contacts in the barrel and the code went. When I got the truck home, I scanned it and there was no code. Around 2 months later the code came back and everytime I try and clear it, it comes back instantly.

With the above in mind, this makes me feel like it is the ignition barrel itself? I can source a used one online pretty cheap but wondering if anyone has experience of this issue before I start swapping out parts!

I do not have a spare key I can test.

I have scanned the truck and I am getting the below codes:
B1352-20
P0553-FF
P1000-FF

Definitely sounds like a PATS system problem..

Try cycling the key (turn to “ON” without starting, wait 10 seconds, then turn off and retry) to see if the PATS system recognizes the key without a battery disconnect.

Get a spare key. You'll have one if you lose the one you have. And it will tell you whether it's the key. A locksmith may be cheaper than a Ford dealer.

The transceiver ring around the ignition cylinder, which reads the key’s transponder, may be faulty or have a loose connection.

See whether jiggling the ignition switch or PATS transmitter wires has any effect.

Remove and inspect ignition switch.

Default Edit

It’s actually a 2008 F-150 super cab. 5.4L. What I’ve decided to do is buy a ignition switch, key, barrel and transponder ring. I’ll replace all of these three things and hope it fixes it! I’ll report back
