I see a problem in the near future...need some opinions
On my way home tonight my truck started to act up at a stop light. The whole truck started shaking, almost like the engine was bouncing up and down. I was sitting at the stop light and it started doing this and it has happened before when I was on a long trip and sitting in stop and go traffic in a construction zone.
I'm thinking it's probably something to do with the tranny but I don't know what. I tried shifting to all different gears and turned the overdrive on and off and it did not stop. When I started moving, the shaking would get worse. It almost felt like the tires are horribly out of balance, but it was doing it when I was at a complete stop so I know that's not the problem. It would continue to get worse as the motor was under load accelerating but if I let off the gas, the shaking would ease up, and then as soon as I hit the gas it would start getting worse.
This happened the last time this past summer and hadn't happened again until tonight. Has anyone ever experienced this type of behavior or would anyone know what it might be?
There are also no warning lights on the dashboard and the truck seemed to idle just fine in park. I didn't notice any fluctuation in rpm's like it was going to stall out or anything like that.
Any help is appreciated.

When I got home I rev'ed it up in the driveway and it seemed to run just fine but it was in park. I moved back and forth a few times in and out of the driveway and it didn't really seem to do it then. I also started and stopped it a couple times too.
While I was sitting at the stop lights, it seemed like the truck was trying to move forward. I don't know if this is related, but most automatic vehicles I've driven will slowly move forward when you let off the brake from a complete stop. For some reason, my truck pretty much just sits still when I do this. I don't know if that's normal or not for this generation, or just these trucks in general.

sounds like the converter to me if it is not moving forward. does it take a little while to move when you it the gas? if you brake torque it how high do the rpms go?

damn trans ...... mine used to do it..... has your battery been dead latly.. i had a bad battery when i bought my truck and it kept going dead like 10 times in a week.. (ford dealer said it wasnt a bad battery and wouldnt change it under warrenty).. and i then started having trans problems...... becouse the computer would have to re learn stuff... after new battery i never had another problem......
On my truck it felt like the torque convertor was staying locked in.... ( no one beleived me) but ive seen a few people latly have the same problem... if you have not had any dead batterys or a weak battery i would change fluid
