Could you tell any difference after cleaning it all up? Running better, or response?

I just cleaned my throttle body the other day. Looked clean on the outside, but the inside was dirty. The difference in power was amazing. I spun my wheels for the first time, which shocked the heck out of me, and gained 2 miles per gallon!

Also you can use a soft toothbrush to get it clean along with the throttle body cleaner, and lots of paper towels

Runs a LOT better. I had an idle of only 200rpm and that increased to 800rpm after I cleaned it. I also tried the gas pedal trick and now my truck responds and runs better than before!!!

Great thread!! My truck has been lagging lately... Response has been kind of weak as well... I just hit 70K today... Spark plugs are ready to be installed... I think doing the TB, MAF, and plugs at the same time will be a big improvement...

Anybody got photos of their TB???

These are pics I google searched but these are the exact kind of throttle body on my 04 Fx4 5.4L. My throttle body was in very similar condition as these before and after I cleaned it.

I certainly did. You'd be suprised how much your truck will appreciate it later on. It's like if you were breathing in a lot of gunk, then you had your "intake" all cleaned out, and now you can breathe a LOT better...lol.

I didn't clean mine because it wasn't giving me any grief and then my engine started going into "fail safe mode" because it was soo dirty. Something in there was sticking and caused it. It cost me 300 bucks.
I'd do it before it gives you grief.
