Default Cleaned the Throttle body today.

I used the very mighty and helpful search button and found this thread. Followed it and couldn't be happier with the results!!! F150 runs smoother now.

Once again, this site is very helpful and I am thankful.

Congrats on your success! I find little need to start a new thread with that pesky search button always answering my questions..

Any notice in the performance? Was there a lot of crap and crud in there?

I wouldn't say any performance gain---really a smoother idle. Also it seems smoother taking off from a stop. Nothing too drastic. My throttle body looked like the OP's throttle body. It had a blackish sludge in the body and on the flapper. I took my time cleaned it, and the air passage going into the engine. I did this Saturday and then drove it most of today in the POURING down rain, so it was hard to get a good feel for her. I would recommend it to anyone with high mileage even if your not having problems. I currently have 72K on my 05 F150. I did it because I felt the idle "smoothness" could be better. Plus I like doing little maintenance things like this. Just my thoughts.

Same. Doing it in 30 degree weather isn't my temperature of choice to work on my truck.

It's all fine until your hand slips off the wrench and you bust open your knuckles in the 30 degree cold.

keeping your throttle body clean and MAF clean are two things i think people over look. i try to clean mine every oil change. just make sure you use the right cleaners for both the MAF and Throttle body so you dont damage anything.

I agree about the cold temps outside---Luckily it was a freak November day and actually got up to 76 degrees!!! never seen that before, but I told the wife there was NO way I was going to do honey due items on a day like that. I unplugged the battery as I did mine as suggested by the OP, and I believe that helped out as well.
