Cleaned maf & throttle body - now truck dies after a few minutes of driving
Hey, guys. This morning I decided to clean my MAF and TB using this thread:
https://www.f150forum.com/f72/how-cl...ody-maf-75006/
I followed it to the letter using the proper cleaning products. I also followed "re-start" instructions to allow the computer to get itself together.
The last step was to drive about 10 miles at different speeds. It started up well, and I drove fine for about 3 minutes. Then the emissions light came on but I was still driving fine. Then about 30 seconds after that the engine quit. The radio was still working, but I couldn't accelerate and lost power steering. Any ideas what happened? Thanks.
EDIT: I should also note that I was able to re-start with only a little trouble cranking, then the process repeated two more times until I got back home.

Not sure my 4.6 did this but it was because I had an intake on a canned tune in my edge. Could the o-ring gasket be leaking? I am assuming the 5.4 has the o-ring gasket like the 4.6 does. Is it throwing a code mine threw a code when it did it.

workin for parts!!!
You did remember to plug everything back in?..electrical and rubber hoses. Didn't damage the wire in the MAF?. You said the emissions light was on, get that code/codes and go from there.

I was extra careful for the reassembly so everything is back in place. I don't think I damaged anything. I guarantee I didn't touch the MAF wire with anything. Everything came out and went back in pretty easily

Yeah. MAF is on correctly. Update: I put another 15 miles on it this afternoon and it didn't die once. The emission light is still on. I need to get a code reader tomorrow.

How long did you wait for the MAF to dry, before starting the truck?
