Chip vs. Programmer
 

Hey guys first post here !!!! Got a few questions about chips for y'all. Im coming into this world straight from the diesel world first off so bare with me please !!! First question what are some of the best and widely used chips for these trucks ?? Second question can you "stack" a chip with a programmer on these trucks like you can with a diesel ?? For example you can put an edge juice with a diablo sport powerpuck....can that be done here or is that a big no no ?? Cause i was looking at the diablo tuner stacked with maybe the SCT Livewire. Any comments would help !!! Thanks !!!!

I'm sure about stacking them but the most widley used programer is probably the edge evolution or gryphon. You definatly can't expect to get as much power from a programer ona gas as a diesel.

Yeah I kind of figured about the power part....Im used to high horse numbers and high torque but i bet i can get it :thumbup::thumbup:. So the consensus is that they are stackable and wont blow my PCM sky high correct ??

Why are you considering changing over ?? Dont like it, more horses, torque ?? sorry for the 20 questions I like to hear others opinions

i dont really know ive just heard some things about the SCT that made me want to give it a shot. ive only run the regular tune on the bully dog, maybe i should indulge and get some 93 octane and try out the other tune..:whistling2:

i do like the fact that the sct is programmable with custom tune. was thinking i could get a econ. tune, a towing, and maybe a perfomance tune that was exactly what i wanted.

no real complaints about the bullydog except it takes for :censored: ever to download the tune.

Good luck, I myself came from a diesel (99.5 f350) and the power is no where near what you get out of as diesel. There are mostly just tuners for the gas unlike the diesels where you have more options (chips) to wire into the computers. On diesels the more fuel you get the more power you gain so you can get tons of power over stock just by getting a chip to throw more fuel in the cylinders. Gas motors don't work that way so you max out a whole lot faster. Stacking chips and tuners wont do you much good on a gas motor unless your looking for just tire size adj, and small things like that that a chip wouldn't get you.

I looked at the SCT Livewire also it looked like a pretty good solid chip to me but what do i know lol !!! Im not real sure about the whole having to run 93 octane to get an extra 5 horses....I dont know.....some shopping and researching is probably my best bet.

idk bullydog recommends using 93 with the premium tune or it may run rough? idk i could try it out and see.

Yeah i just got out of an 01 cummins that we used to race on and off and finally just got tired of fixing it and what not so i figured i would go onto breaking something else so i got my ford back lol. Well thats some good advice man i appreciate it cause i would've been throwing on chips and programmers and looking to break the tires loose !!! How do these motors and trannys react to these programmers and chips ??
