Default Chip and intake

I'm looking to get a chip and intake for my 05 5.4 lariat screw and did a little reading up on it when I came across this thread

https://www.f150forum.com/f7/edge-mods-93740/

Just would like to clarify and get a few questions out of the way:

Once I put a new intake such as a K&N on with the new air hose will the MAF have inaccurate readings (being calibrated to the dimensions of the stock airflow hose)?

Will running a chip like the edge evo or gryphon (which one is better?) cause my engine to run lean because i have a new intake on it? In which case will I have to get a custom tune for my vehicle?

So many questions

Power Hungry Performance can convert/reprogram the Edge Evo to a Gryphon to accept custom tunes.

You truck won't run lean because of the tuner it will run lean because of the CAI.
These threads might clear up somethings-

I've been thinking about a CAI for awhile but just did the Gotts/DWV mod for now, I plan on converting my Edge Evo to a Gryphon sooner or later. PHP can convert your Edge without sending it in using the program supplied with the edge.

I was wondering if I can get just a new filter that'd fit on the stock hose would that not make it run lean?

K&N makes a drop in that everybody seems to like. I don't think that will mess with your MAF since it is behind it.

Your CAI shouldn't run lean, iv had my K&N for 8 months now with dual exhaust as well and don't run lean at all some say you do but on my supercrew I don't. and you wont get ne flags when putting ur cai on I never got one and have never had a problem with it

There are a few companies that make drop-in filters. I read some more about the K&N drop ins-you need to be mindful not to over oil them. Just search drop in filters here on the forum. As far as CAIs-read as many threads as you can. I realize Ghostrider has no problems and alot of dudes dont but he has an 08. 04-05 model years are finicky, the volant seems to be the only CAI for 04-05 that doesn't cause problems. There is some interesting info in those threads I previsely posted. I would recommend reading as much as you can. If you are going to get custom tunes-you can pretty much run whatever you want.
