Check Engine Code P1289
 

This morning out of the blue I started my truck to find a check engine code. Using my edge I got the code P1289: Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) Sensor Circuit High.

I also got a message to "Check Gauges". The water temperature gauge looks dead however I know it is still working because it actually goes down when the truck is running (below the C) and back up to the C when not running. (http://imgur.com/a/TCN6p)

Also the truck takes more time to start. It normally fires up almost instantly. It now takes about 2 secs longer.

And lastly I took this video from a few different locations for engine noise. Is this normal noise or some sort of irregular noise?

What do I need to fix this?

Hard to say, there's a few tests to run that require a scan tool with pid access. Forscan comes to mind and it's free, just need a Windows laptop or tablet and an obdii dongle.

Thinks it's safe to drive for the time being? I can still monitor the temps with the edge. And besides it taking longer to start, it seems to run the same.

Just make sure your coolant level is normal. The CHT has a direct effect on the starting concern.

Could this effect my AC at all?

Today I turned it on (haven't been using it due to weather) and it is blowing hot. And when I say hot I mean 94 degrees. It is 75 right now in central Florida.

So is my luck just on fire this week or is it all related?
