Default Changing mirrors

I recently purchased a 2004 F-150 where the mirrors don't have the turn signals in them and was wondering if it was a plug and play setup if I buy turn signal mirrors from lmc truck or from a oem source.

1aauto is good for aftermarket mirrors. I don't know if its plug and play for changing mirrors because I bought mirrors with the same functions as my old mirrors. I have heard that the signals work plug n play quite often but its up to you to try it out.

If not, you might as well get power fold and heated mirrors and wire in switches to control them.

Its not going to be plug and play for the turn signal option in the mirrors for your 2004. Sure, the mirrors will bolt up, but the wiring in the plug for the turn signal will not be there in your year truck. You can easily add the pin/wiring yourself (I did this on my 2007 STX) by tapping off of the FRONT turn signals (use them, as the rear turn signals also are also on the brake circuits; don't want the mirror turn signals to light up when the brakes are applied!).

Another consideration is the truck model you have. The XL's STX, and perhaps other base packages may not even have the wiring at all for any outside mirror functions. If your current outside mirrors are not powered, then you can safely assume there won't be any plug for the mirrors to wire up to.

I just did the same to my truck and it was pretty easy to do. Like the last guy said if ur truck didn't come with them the wire won't b there. I ended up tapping mines to the front blinkers and I used 2009 mirror the fit perfectly on my 06.

And in case you need the pin assignments for the connector for the outside mirrors (pin 10; in the pic below, it states "right front" side, but its the same for left and right outside mirror, as this pic was for the right front outside mirror in the wiring schematic):

The plug pulls off the mirror, so I just tapped into the wire that goes to the blinker on the mirror and ran the wire to the front blinkers. I couldn't find a harness plug for a mirror since the truck didn't have them

I ended up going to a bone yard, and found a 2007-up Truck with the power mirror option, removed the door panels, and cut the plug out so I had something to wire to.

Another option is to buy the "female" pins, crimp a wire to it that's long enough to tap into the front turn signal. These female pins can be bought online. Then use a piece of heatshrink tubing at its end, and slide it into the male pin of the mirror. Don't forget to also add pin 8 as well if you din't have the complete wiring; that's the power mirror ground.

What options do your mirrors currently have such as power, heat, puddle lights etc

Here's a link to the tow mirrors that we carry for your 2004. If it's a new body style, it will be noted what fits your truck

The 2004 F150's did not come wired in the factory plug for turn signal operation in the outside mirrors. Yes, you can buy a set of later year mirrors and they will bolt up, but the pin out for the turn signal will not be on the wiring side to line up with the later mirrors that have the option.

And depending on the model, the truck may not have the wiring at all. If the truck did not come with power outside nirrors, the wiring most likely will not be there in the door for it.

I have an '08 STX and I swapped regular power mirrors for power and signal mirrors and they were pre wired. I also used the 09+ style mirror
