Default Changed tranny fluid today

If anyone is planning on flushing the tranny fluid, this is the link to follow: https://sites.google.com/site/fordf1...nge-procedures

It took me a long time to do this. 6 hours. Learned a lot and it would probably take me 2-3 hours if I did it again. My return line nut was corroded into the tranny. So it was a pain to unscrew the return line and it also took forever to figure out how to screw it back in. Tip: use your hand to screw it back in as far as possible. My hand could barely fit within the area available, but got it in enough, and used the wrench to finish it. It was also a pain to get the tubing around the return line.

Mine is an 06 fx4 screw with 107k miles. The tranny fluid had never been changedo, I know this because I found the end of the dipstick line in the pan. I decided to change it because when I bought 4 years ago at 72k miles, the guy said he pulled a big camper in the ozarks several times. I also pulled a 69 mustang 10 hours away recently, so I figured it would be good to change the tranny fluid. I’m glad I did, the fluid was still bright red, but the magnet had a lot of sludge around it.

I used a similar procedure on my old Mountaineer, but with a twist:

put in 10 quarts after the pan and filter were back on. Clean red fluid came out just before the flow stopped. top up the pan again, with another 4 qts or so and it was all finished.

He did more than just "Pan drop to change the filter... Easy job, I must say" as you put it, he FLUSHED his.

I admire his admission of it taking some time and thought to complete the process as I did on my 04 F150 following the same guidelines. In addition providing the forum with some tips.

I know what he did. I just didn’t have time to do that.
I also changed fluid in both differintals, and a oil change.
