Yes Sir... either way he just needs to add a little pipe... that's what she said.

^actually has a sense of humor

Seriously though, add some pipe. One of my favorite things on a vehicle is a good looking exhaust.

would attaching a Thrush muffler right onto the pipe in the picture or maybe a glass pack or something be good enough without having to run pipe all the way to the back??

I have been running this exact setup for years. You're fine.

I would suggest running pipe and dumping it just after the cab, or doing an axle dump. I ran two different setups on my '07.

1. Stock cats, y-pipe, single pipe to a si/so super 20, y-pipe and straight out the back to dual tips.

2. Stock cats, then 2.5" pipe to a 12" Cherry Bomb glass pack on each bank, no crossover, and then out the back to dual tips. Lemme tell ya, this one was LOUD. I would set off car alarms driving by in the garage at school. I love the sound of glass packs, and actually swapped the muffler on my '16 to a cherry bomb glass pack. I've got a video, but it's on Photobucket right now, and they're recently converted ***** that no longer allow 3rd party sharing without paying $300. Lol

I've been waiting so long to use this:
