Default Catastrophic Electrical Failure

Hey guys, so today I was in the middle of resealing the third brake light (I had it removed from the truck) on my 06 screw when a little rainstorm came out of nowhere and unleashed hell. I was able to get a tarp on the truck only a minute or so after the rain started but some definitely got into the truck through the 3rd brake light housing.

I finished up the light and reinstalled it and when I went to test it out I noticed several electrical functions in the truck were no longer working. These include the window buttons, the entire dash (speed-o, tach, etc.,) the radio, the interior lights, the break lights, the a/c, and a couple other things. My truck has 275k so it has had some minor electrical problems in the past but never anything this severe.

Any suggestions where to start in diagnosing the problem? I know my way around the electrical system in my truck moderately well but I don’t even know where to start with this one. BTW I checked the fuses and they are all fine.

Thanks for any help

Just read your last sentence on the fuses. That's a tough one. Seems like something must have shorted out when it got wet and should have tripped a fuse. If all you touched was the 3rd brake light, I'd take it back off and inspect those wires to verify there is nothing wrong with them. Good luck.

All of the things you mentioned I think are all on the same fuse, I would spend a dollar and replace it just to be sure.

Any idea what fuse # to check? I checked probably about half of the fuses and they were all fine.

agreed, sorry I didn't get back to you man. Just google your fuse box diagram or check in your owners manual if you still have it.
