Default Can you find OBD2 codes without reader....

I have a 2005 f150 4.6.....

Its missing something fierce....

Is there a way to read the codes without a reader? No parts places close to me with a reader....

about 2 months ago I replaced the 3 and 6 coils because it said a misfire when I was near an autozone.....

this truck is frustrating....

Buy yourself a scan tool or one that uses Bluetooth via a smartphone. It would be well worth it for you.

Finally got mine about a month ago. $20 for the reader and $5 for the app. Fixed my moms 13 Edge with it. $20 part for a P0456 code. How much would a shop have charged? Excellent investment.

^^^^This^^^^ I use the TorquePro app on my android phone ($5 for the app) and $20 for the BAFX OBDII Bluetooth adapter off Amazon. This has by far been the best $25 I've ever spent on all of my vehicles!

Unfortunately (well fortunately I guess LOL), these are not Chrysler vehicles where you can do a key dance and read the codes. You need an OBDII reader to get codes off this truck. Do like what the others mentioned, get a reader off ebay or amazon and have it shipped to your door. I use the BAFX module as well, along with Torque. I leave it plugged in and can monitor stats on my phone while I'm driving. Torque also lets you data log as you drive.

Yeah, get a reader. Its dirt cheap and I'm sure you'll use it more then once. I'm actually writing a software that will continuously log the activity and text or email me even before CEL comes up as well as dump the date as soon as I pull in to my garage to my server, and create nice graph that you can login and look at from your browser.

Default RealTime Charts for Torque Pro, Torque Pro plug-in

Do you mean something like this:

V.V.T. operation on startup out of my neighborhood 25 / 30 mph - start stop.

Graphs are produced with Torque Pro - through the Plug-In "Realtime Charts for Torque Pro" from Google Play ($1.99). I rate both applications 5 Star.

Torque Pro does everything you are talking about already for $4.95. "Realtime Charts for Torque Pro" is a separate plug-in that will graph ANY gauge or any PID in the torque database (and it provides for adding additional enhanced PIDs). I have located and created custom PIDs for Torque Pro for all the OBDII parameters available for Phaser operation on the 5.4L Triton and posted them here.

They are the source of the attached Graphs of Phaser operation.

Graphs are only part of what it is going to do plus I wont have to connect it to my phone every time. I is going to log constantly as well as record video, live video feed, lock/unlock doors with your phone, start the engine and kill switch cost/service tracking, and much more. I already have it running (partially) on my 987, I just need to build hardware for my truck as well.

Ahhh, cool. Keep us posted. You must have been doing some serious OBDII hacking if you have some of the MS CAN commands worked out to start engine, lock doors etc. I have scanned for responding PIDs on HS CAN and identified around 400 PIDs (many bit oriented) for a total of 550 or so parameters the PCM maintains on my 5.4. But sending commands is a whole 'nother ball game. Hats off to you!

Some of it is OBDii and some of it, like the engine start is simply with the relays, same way as you would do with typical remote starter but over 4G network using Pine64 with some extra hardware. I will release most of the project as an open source, once its stable, and I hope more people will get on board with the project.
