Sound plausible that the OEM power fold switch could be used to control the telescoping?
I remember a while back there was a thread on this and it was posted that the power fold works but that the telescope would not work. I would assume that the wiring doesn't have the provision on the older models for the fold and the telescope. My guess would be you could have one or the other but not both.

Sorry to bring up an old post, but Im trying to get my mirrors installed. I ordered towing mirrors for my 08 and they are power folding. What do I have to do in order to to use that function. Or at least unfold them so I can install(I dont plan on folding them back in once they are on.

Hey man, check this forum out http://www.powerstroke.org/forum/6-0...r-mirrors.html
This guy has the telescope and folding mirror and he made it work. This might answer your question.

Here's one way...but it uses an extra switch instead of the oem one.

Reviving an old thread here

I'm trying to do this modification to my '04 Lariat.

Do you happen to have the PDF file you've linked? The page may have been moved, updated or deleted..

Thanks!

It was so easy, I bought the switch that it suggest came out under $5 for the switch. I got the mirrors off of a King Ranch, the turn signals, courtesy light, and power fold function all work! If you have any questions pm me and I can help you out. I will post a vid of the mirrors in action.
Can you use the OEM switch following that PDF guide?

I'm also trying to do it on my '04 Lariat, but can't seem to find the PDF file you're referring to anywhere!
Can you send me the PDF file: lovesportsbikeAThotmailDOTcom

Have you had any electrical issues with the dash or something after the power mirror conversion?

I’m on my phone at the moment, I’ll see if I can find it on the computer later on and make it available again.

no electrical issues in the dash, even after all these years.

Thanks man, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Awesome that it hasn't interfered with any other electronics.
