California legal tuner question

Here's some stuff from Edge products website
"This part (15051) will not work with CAI's, Exhausts, TB Spacers, and other aftermarket components. View part numbers 85150 or 85250 for CAI tuning and more."
Regarding the Use of Edge Products in California
Edge has submitted their full line of aftermarket performance products for testing to ensure they are in compliance with the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) standards. Currently, all of Edge’s products for gasoline-powered vehicles have received CARB Executive Orders (E.O.s) and are legal for sale and use on gasoline-powered pollution-controlled vehicles in California. The rest of Edge’s products have been submitted for testing or are in an E.O.-pending process. We are currently testing products to become compliant. This page will be updated as applications move to the next stages of the CARB and E.O. process.

The Evolution automatically makes a backup of your stock program from
your PCM before writing a new program onto your PCM. This assures that
you will have the stock program if/when you desire to reprogram your
vehicle to its original stock program.
We strongly recommended prior to returning your vehicle to a service center
or emissions check that you return your vehicle’s computer to the stock
program. In the event that the service center re-flashes your vehicle’s
computer (a common practice) and you have NOT returned it to stock, your
Evolution programmer will be rendered useless. If this happens, call our
technical support at (888) 360-EDGE and they can help you recover your
Evolution for a small fee. Follow t

Never knew the state was so finicky. Do they check exhaust emissions too?
In WI, all they check for are pcm codes, and how many start cycles since your last code. Otherwise you can keep the tune if you have no codes. Here only the dealer knows for sure if they try to re flash your pcm. Call SCT support and ask them. Or contact Franchi (on the attached link. He sells act products also)

Probably worth mentioning that at first glance it may look like some of these posts disagree with each other, but as far as I can tell, all are correct and accurate. Like PNW says, you should always return to stock before you go anywhere that could possibly reflash your computer.
My case was a bit of a special situation. I was ordered to a CA Test-Only station. According to the owner, they are not allowed to "do" anything to your truck, only test your emissions. After I had passed, I asked him if I could have left the Edge plugged in and he said that I could have done that. They "are not allowed" to plug into the OBD unless you fail the test. If you fail the tailpipe test, then they are required to plug in and give you the code(s) so you can take it somewhere else to get it fixed. According to him, they could lose their license if they had a code-flash unit in the shop.
I did this more as an experiment than anything else, partly because I really wondered what would happen. My shop gives a free re-test if you fail, so there wasn't too much at risk. You may want to take others' excellent advice and return to stock before testing.
BTW, my shop is unusual. They offer free sodas, water, and snacks, plus a massage chair (my favorite). They offered free sushi this time, so your experience with your shop may vary!
Bottom line, though is that this tune, on this truck, is not only CA street legal, but passes smog.

Milwaukee county. It's a southeast Wisconsin thing, because of the proximity to northeast Illinois. Have to use the gas with ethanol too. So we had the "sniffers" until about 3 to 4 years ago. Now it is just a pcm test looking for codes.
