California legal tuner question
I wanted to see if anyone knows of a good tuner that is California legal. I was looking at the gryphon but I saw that they are not legal in stupid CA. I did a google search and it came up with nothing.

Why not move to where they are legal since CA sucks my ***** anyway!
Oh, all I know is that the Edge Evo is legal there but I don't think they're that good and I returned mine. Your almost better off doing a throttle pedal reset and see how snappy your acceleration gets suddenly. Worked for me, just do a search.

Ugh. I wrote a really nice, complete, writeup and then my browser crashed and I lost it.
The short form is that Edge supplies CARB-compliant tunes. They even include a letter and a sticker stating that fact. Their letter says you show the sticker to the smog station and they shouldn't make you detune and disconnect before the test.
I haven't had to smog since I got the unit, so can't say first hand that there's no worries.

I was born and raised in San Diego and lived there for 34 years before moving the heck out of there. Got sick of it and I have a better job, better pay and finally bought a house and can provide for my wife and three children without mooching the system in any way! All because I relocated. I miss surfing and all my friends but that's part of growing up.

Born and raised in Cali also PNW...I too got sick of all the crap ...do miss the weather..when you put the Edge back to stock and do not complete a drive cycle it will set a P1000 DTC...you will need to return the Edge back to stock a few days prior to getting a smog check.

Don't know if the OP is still following this thread, but I can answer part of this definitively.
Didn't realize it when I posted my earlier response, but my upcoming CA registration required a smog check, so I now have first-hand experience.
I unplugged my Edge CS from the OBD and left the Edge mounted on the dash in the factory pod. Drove to the test-only station and passed the test. The numbers show it was VERY clean and the tech even commented on how low the emissions were, compared to the truck's state-computer-mandated specs, (C02 was about 10% of max). Plugged the Edge back into the OBD, started up the truck and drove off.
So basically, the truck passed CA smog test while programmed with tune #2, towing. No codes and very clean, all equipment intact. Doing the happy dance!
