CAI Question
So I currently have the Banks Ram Air Intake and a custom tune for my truck. I was looking at getting a different CAI as I cannot stand the Banks 1900rpm drone anymore towing or in OD on the highway. Anyone know if I will have to acquire a different tune if I upgrade or not and what CAI would you recommend. Thanks!

No matter what CAI you go with, a new tune should be gotten just to ensure everything on the a/f side stays where it should. Ask Bill when you get your new system how different the tuning is and get his take though. He might have made it rich enough to not matter.
Look for a system with a dry filter as the filtration efficiency will be better than their oiled counterparts. If you want, a sealed box type system will keep temps down better than an open element also. Volant, Airaid, and S&B all make decent dry filters. S&B actually shows their ISO testing data on their site to see exactly how much filtration you are giving up compared to stock.

Yeah.. It's something with the banks. If you do a google search and search around on here you will see complaints about it. I'm sure the exhaust has a bit to do with it as well though. Thanks for the replies guys.. i'm not sure what to do.

When I got my custom tunes from PHP I had the AF1 intake. They stopped making the intake and I really didnt like the set up so I called PHP and asked if I needed to get custom tunes again and he just told me to get the K&N 57 series intake and I will be g to g!!!!

I have had my K&N for about 2 years with no complaint, I get my road drone from the side by side flowmasters turned down past the cab. The moter has a slight more roar in it when you put your foot in it. With the cruis set it sounds the same as stock.

How do you like the k&n intake? Any drone on the highway in overdrive? I'm looking for normal sound on everyday driving but a nice sound when I get on it. I've been looking at the afe stage 2 with dry filter but I can't find too many reviews on that one. I appreciate the advice.
