Default Lariat factory sub into my XLT

My pops has an 04 f150 lariat with the factory subwoofer. I have an 06 XLT without a sub.

His truck is beat to crap. 250,000 km. Transmission bucking like crazy. Needs phasers. Needs heater core. Possibly bottom end work which means might as well get a new motor. So he is just going to get rid of it and the dealer is only going to give him about $4,000 for it. I think its time to take some parts off of it and put into my truck.

I'm gonna swap bumpers because mine has a little ding in it. But what I want to know is... Can I use the subwoofer from his truck in mine? What would I need to swap it over? Do I need to swap head units or will my stock one work? Are the trucks already wired for factory subwoofer? I've read sometimes they use the same wiring harness regardless of model/accessories.

So, anyone thats swapped this, what all do I need to swap from his truck to mine?

Lift the rear drivers seat. Loosen two bolts. Remove Subwoofer.

IDK if the XLTs come prewired for a sub or not. Look around for a clip. Your stock head unit should work.

His stock head unit is doubtful. The "Audiophile" (stock subwoofer option) headunit has an extra plug in it's back to accept the wiring harness. Ford made several headunits; the 6 CD changer would be the one equipped with the Audiophile plug. Some of these 6 CD changers had a third plug; this is for the overhead DVD player. Then there is the factory navagation unit....

At the very least, you'll be swapping the radio, adding the Audiophile unit under the rear seat, and hoping your XLT was pre-wired. If not, you'll be removing that from pop's truck.

Thanks for the help guys... I got thinking last night. I might just sell my truck and buy his. Hell, he'd probably give it to me as its a company truck (we are part of the same company). I've always wanted to have a commuter car as well as my truck so I could just buy a car for cruising to work. Fix his truck up and use it for the boat, snowmobiling, dirtbikes etc. I dont want to drive the truck for work because I put on about 3000 km every month for work and the gas is just killing me. I figure the problems with his truck arent as bad as they think.

"Phasers" --> Doesnt actually sound as bad as other peoples trucks that I've heard. I'd likely replace the VCT Solenoid first to see if it quiets it up a little. I could live with it

Heater core --> I think it is actually the electronic temperature crap that is messing with the heat in the cab. I dont smell any antifreeze in the cab. And yes, there is antifreeze in the radiator. Should be an easy fix. And it has heated seats to get me by the rest of the cold months

Bucking --> This truck has 250,000 km and the spark plugs were done at around 140,000. I think the truck is bucking because its missing rather then transmission slipping. Time will tell how easy a fix this is. Could be expensive(tranny) or could be cheap (spark plug)

No speedometer --> Still gotta figure that out. The speedo locked on 200 km/h

It may sound like a lot of work but I can get this truck for very very cheap. And I know the maintenence since new and it hasnt had any problems until now. It has brand new BFG A/T on it. nice canopy. Interior and exterior are mint shape. Just needs a little loving. Buy this truck for $2000 or free*** and sell mine for $17,000.. buy a ****ty little VW diesel for daily driving and save some gas money. WIN WIN
