Im planning on doing that this week on my days off. But what about the yellow/greenish dye all over the valve? Isn't that a leak?

I placed two thick towels over the intake and valve covers, placed a publix bag over the alt. and battery. Then I sprayed away. Even did the under hood of the truck. Was careful not to get any overspray on the fenders. Just engine bay. Let it soak then sprayed a second time over the first. Then used a water hose and lightly washed down the whole engine compartment. Then took towels and baggies off and cleaned those parts by hand. After all is done, I use the liquid tire shine and spray the whole compartment, then wipe away and clean. I use the tire shine on all the exterior black plastic/rubber too! If you spray it every time you clean the truck, the plastic eventually soaks it all in and last a long while before coming dry and getting that faded look. Doesn't hurt also that the truck only has 27,438 miles on it now. LOL.
OK-so you used it full strength as stated on the bottle? Just wanted to be sure, found it @ my local Dollar General store.

Yes! Do not dilute it. Once everything is covered, spray it all over. Be careful not to spray the "outside" of the fenders. Let it sit a good 5 minutes, then re-spray all over again on top of the first. Let that set for two minutes, then gently spray water to hose it all off. You'll see the grim come right off. After that, dry up the engine bay, start up the motor make sure everything is ok, then with motor off, use the liquid tire shine basically on everything except alt. and intake. Then use rags to wipe clean, all the vacuum hoses and water hoses will look new, along with all plastic wire connections and valve covers.

Well took the truck to the A/C guy and explained my situation. He basically talked down to me like I was a dummy and didn't know anything about cars. He sprayed soapy water in the valve and there were no bubbles. So he says there is no leak. He say's the green dye is from me tightening the cap to much causing the valve to leak!! I tried to explain to him that I purchased the truck two months ago, the A/C wasn't cool enough, I went to check the charge and the cap WAS NOT ON TIGHT AT ALL! and the green dye was present. I cleaned up the valve and the inside of the cap. Rechecked it the other day and the green dye was back! The cap wasn't on tight at all. So yesterday I charged it some more and this time I did tighten the cap with pliers. Today the air was down to 40 while driving and when idling went to 45-48. The opposite of what it has been doing. The mechanic says I should be happy with 40. That it won't get cooler then that. Am I going crazy? I guess Ill leave everything for now and see how it does the next week of driving.

40 is very good for these trucks! Mine only does 44-48! My guess is, the original owner may have sold it for that reason, an AC leak.
I hope its not the evap coil, I further hope they did not use the stop leak stuff! it will surely clog your fixed orifice valve.
Next step for me would be: to evac the system, see if it holds or drops. If it drops you know you have a leak. If it holds, I would open and replace the FO valve, then recharge to specs.

Purchased truck from my neighbor, he became to old to drive it. He was the original owner, I remember him getting it. Truck only has 27K now. I used the "pro" stuff can for the A/C recharging. Prior to all this the air would be 42-44 at idle and 50 when driving.

According to this web page, http://www.techchoiceparts.com/refri...rd-light-truck , your truck takes 36 ounces. 16 ounces to a pound, so that's 2lbs and 4 ounces. (The sticker under the hood, if still there, will tell you exactly.) Note the can sizes that you have used because they can differ in size: 12 ounces vs 16 and you may be overcharged which does not help.
I looked at mine last night, I have no green dye in either low or high port. If it were mine: I would evacuated the system, replace the valve stem and fixed orifice valve, pull vacuum and check for leaks. If no leak, recharge to 36 ounces.
You could have a bad or clogged expansion valve, if equipped, but I think you have a FOV.. Take a look at this page also: http://www.techchoiceparts.com/how-a...ditioner-works .

I agree with both of you. I will have it evac and recharged. I put one 16 oz and one 12 oz in it already. I will not be able to have this done till next week on my days off. But I agree with the rings and seals drying up.
digital trucker, Thank you for that sight. I found that sight last week at work. According to the ambient temp. page. My truck is doing very well blowing 40 with and outside temp of 85. Im use to the A/C system in my ol blazer, I had 38 coming out of that. And my ol 77 vette, right before I sold it I finally got it down to 39-40. Which is VERY GOOD for an old vette. I will assume ford didn't place a bigger system in our extra big cabs and the A/C has to work hard to fill the volume compared to a two door reg cab also.
