A/C issue
 

Greetings to all. I own a 04 F150 king-cab Heritage truck. I think something is wrong with the a/c. It blast out cold air but even on the highest "max" setting, it just doesn't cool down the inside much. I have to roll the window down to cool off! Its like the blower is clogged up. I cannot find a blower in the engine area to check. I've noticed some condensation under the glove box near floor. Are there any links to a diagram showing all the a/c components? Years ago I asked Ford if there was an a/c air filter in my model and they said no. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you're feeling water in the cab, then it's possible that your condesation run-off is clogged. You can get under there and blow it out. This may not fix your issue totally, but it'll help prevent a moldy cab.

Have you had someone check the charge? You might have a leak and it being a 94 it probably still has r12.

You are not alone. It is "Africa Hot" in the south right now, placing a load on the A/C units to cool our trucks and cars. If you are seeing condensation on the evap box, I'd say the A/C is functioning. It would'nt hurt to have a shop check it's charge though. Most places are offering "Free inspection" on A/C units, just be sure you use a reputable shop (don't want to get ripped off on service you don't need). You can always get more than one opinion as well.

Other ways to help cool the cab quicker is to crack the windows when it's parked. This will help keep the hot air to a minimum when it's parked. If you have a scab, crack open the rear windows while driving for a few minutes and the A/C on; this will help remove the hot air while the A/C gets the cab air cool.

Thanks to all for the comments. Yes, it overly hot here in Florida these days! Will tinting the windows help much? Could I install a more powerful blower or would that over power the a/c? Any ideas where the blower intake hose (or whatever it is called) is under the truck, I suppose it might be clogged. I'll take it to Big10 Tires & get em to check it out.

I believe the A/C intake (when not on "MAX A/C") is the grill at the base of the windshield (by the wiper arms).

When using "MAX A/C" the system pulls air from inside the cab, at the floor area; not sure of this location though.
