Default Buying First F-150

Hi guys. Im very excited to be looking into buying my first F-150. Found a 2004 XLT 4x4 Super-cab (5.4L V8) with 80k miles on it for $15k. It is in very good condition and also has a custom grille. What do you guys think about this price?

Thank you in advance.

Probably depends on your area. 15k is probably average. Are you getting it from a dealer or private sale? If private that might be a little high. If it's a dealer it's actually probably a little low. In either case, I'd offer around 14k and hold at that price.

I think that's pretty high. I would probably sell my 05 lariat crewcab 4x4 for that price. There is low miles on the one your looking at but I would look more before buying it.

Have you consulted any of the online pricing guides to see what it should be selling for? That should be your first step.

Ultimately it depends on the area you live in. I bought a 05 Lariat 4x4 with 95k miles for $13,800 and it was fully loaded. But going to similar sales on different websites and dealers it was actually low. I looked for about 8 months before I bought one, so I became familiar with the prices in my area. That price seems average and just below a dealer price.

I bought my 2004 XLT Supercab 4x4 5.4 liter with 65,000 miles, for $11,900.

Area may play a part in it, but the same truck with 15,000 more miles should not be $3,100 more.

it does play a huge part. I live in the northeast but take frequent trips to Georgia and Nashville. I looked at trucks in those area and the price drop was pretty decent. it was a bit harder to find 4x4 in GA. up here in the northeast you will pay 35-40% for a truck with 4x4.

I bought my 07 XLT extcab 4x4 with 90k miles for $13990 in jersey, i had been looking for 7 months and at probably over 30 trucks before i picked this one. definitely pay a premium for 4x4 in the northeast. half that time i had been looking in southern california (where i live most of the year) and it was ridiculously hard to find a decent 4x4 that wasnt beat to hell for my price range
